As much as I hate to do this, I have to put the site on hiatus for a bit. My personal life is beyond hectic right now and I need to take a step back and just focus on real life for a while. This may only be for a few weeks, but it could turn into a 1-2 months. If it will be any longer than 1-2 months, I will post with another update at that time.

Charlize will be celebrating her 33rd birthday tomorrow and on behalf of the site and the fans, I would like to wish her all the best and hope she has a fabulous day with her loved ones. Feel free to comment with your birthday wishes below.

According to various online sources, Charlize is set to attend the 65th Annual Venice Film Festival which begins on August 27, 2008.

Some of the biggest names in Hollywood are coming together to support cancer research in a rare television fundraiser on September 5, at 8 p.m. EST and PST. Stars like Jennifer Aniston, Lance Armstrong, Sally Field, Hillary Swank and Charlize Theron are coming together for “Stand Up to Cancer,� a televised event that will air simultaneously and commercial-free on three major U.S. TV networks: ABC, CBS and NBC.

Supporters hope to raise both funding and awareness during the event. In a July 29, Stand Up To Cancer press release, Laura Ziskin, who is the executive producer of the September 5 broadcast, said, “We’re at the threshold of a great moment in our history. There’s a perfect storm brewing in the field of cancer research. We have the technology, we have the will. We need the funding. In this political year, it is imperative this issue—which touches us all—remains in the spotlight.�

Among those celebrities named above, there will also be appearances by Salma Hayek, Josh Brolin, America Ferrera, Meryl Streep, Christina Ricci and Forest Whitaker. Those willing to donate or get involved, please visit standup2cancer.org.

WHEN Charlize Theron appears onscreen in her latest film, Hancock, it’s as the archetypal soccer mom; a vision of all-American apple-pie goodness, blonde and peachy, wearing a look of tender concern towards her blonde and peachy son.

She looks as if she was born for the part, raised on a diet of milk and cookies in the ’burbs before setting off for Hollywood – which just goes to show.

She has the looks and the accent, but English isn’t even her first language: she’s actually an Afrikaner from small-town South Africa.

She grew up under apartheid. When she was 15 years old, her mother gunned down her alcoholic father on the family smallholding after he turned violent.

So much for soccer mom. But Theron’s cheesecake looks are always a bit of a red herring. She’s known for her beauty – how could she not be?

As you can all see, I’ve put up a stunning new layout created by Jess of GotMedia?. I’m totally in love with it and hope you guys will enjoy it as well.  The gallery was also updated with a shiny new design last week, which was created by Eny of Innuendo Designs and I hope you all like that new look as well.

She is, as Glamour magazine writer Skip Hollandsworth aptly pointed out, “fiercely intelligent” and “gloriously opinionated,” somebody we locals love to describe as “beauty and brains,” and, again to quote Hollandsworth, “an actress who refuses to be shallow, on-screen or off.”

I saw that for myself when I did a one-on-one with Charlize Theron during the Hollywood junket for Hancock in New York mid-June. Produced by Columbia Pictures (and directed by Peter Berg, an actor in his own right), Hancock (now showing nationwide) stars in the title role Will Smith with whom Theron first worked in The Legend of Bagger Vance in 2000.

Looking at me with piercing hazel eyes and brushing her shoulder-length blonde hair away from her lovely face, Theron would tackle your questions not in mono-syllables like most blondes would but in long, elaborate sentences, firm and sure of her “gloriously opinionated” answers.

“Hancock” stars Will Smith, Charlize Theron and Jason Bateman talk about why they wanted to be in the movie and how the film finds the human being in a superhero.

But Jason lets it spill that he tried to drag out his sex scene with Charlize Theron. Wonder if she noticed? Will says he found it hard to concentrate while shooting with fans screaming at him on Hollywood Blvd. Duh.

As for superpowers, Will wants Hancock’s ability to drink like a fish. Charlize and Jason just want to want to be able to fly.

We’ll like both, please.
