Heavy rains have delayed shooting for “Mad Max 4″ after turning the Australian Outback action film set from a dust bowl into lush green pastures, a report said on Thursday.

Broken Hill, the desolate setting for the film and usually bone-dry, has been transformed into a verdant oasis by the downpours, which have broken a decade-long drought in parts of the country.

About 200 crew are in the isolated New South Wales town for pre-production, but filming has now been postponed until January, the Sydney Morning Herald said.

“You can’t kick up any dust, it’s too green and moist and they need dry and dusty,” said Hugh Gough, of the town’s Caledonian Bed and Breakfast.

Local residents are now hoping that shooting of the post-apocalyptic drama, which launched Mel Gibson’s career, will not move elsewhere.

“Weather-wise it’s stunning, it’s been very wet and there is a lot of growth around which is not something we’re renowned for,” said Broken Hill mayor Wincen Cuy.

“It’s pretty abnormal and we hadn’t planned on it but we’re led to believe (the filming) won’t go anywhere else.”

Broken Hill had nearly five times its average rainfall in February and 96 millimetres (3.8 inches) in just one day in March, the report said, soaking soils which sent plant life blooming.

Gibson will not be reprising his old role in “Mad Max 4: Fury Road” which will star British actor Tom Hardy alongside South African siren Charlize Theron.

Following her split with boyfriend Stuart Townsend, Hollywood superstar Charlize Theron has decided to rent their Malibu beachhouse for USD 50,000 a month.

The Oscar-winner used the house for romantic weekends with Irish actor, who moved out after the end of their nine-year-long relationship in January this year. He is a co-owner of the house.

The three-bedroom cottage-style home comes with a much sought-after ocean front location, Daily Mail reported.

According to Realtor.com the 2,095 square foot 1930 house sits on the sands of Malibu in one of the Californian towns most exclusive communities.

A deck area for entertaining guests backs onto a stretch of golden sand, while in the master bedroom the occupants can relax in a Jacuzzi.

The house is on the iconic Pacific Coast Highway, with two private parking spaces for vehicles.
Pictures show a well-stocked modern kitchen, with photos of pet dogs on the wall and pots of sunflowers to brighten the area.

Plants and trees are scattered around the indoor seating area, which boasts a modern pared-down style.

Theron, 34, also owns another home in Los Angeles, where she spends much of her time when not away filming.

The actress has since been linked to actor Keanu Reeves after they were spotted hugging in the street last month. They starred together in ‘The Devil’s Advocate’ in 1997 and ‘Sweet November’ in 2001.

Charlize Theron would love to share a few details about her much-hyped role in the upcoming Mad Max film, “Fury Road,” but she’s terrified the filmmakers would punish her for giving up any details.

“They would kill me,” she told MTV News, just after receiving the Decade of Hotness honors at Spike’s Guys Choice Awards. “They’re listening to everything I’m saying right now,” she said conspiratorially. “It’s so top-secret they would destroy me.”

Theron did, however, express enthusiasm for leading man Tom Hardy and director George Miller. “[Tom's] amazing,” she said. “I think his work in [2009's] ‘Bronson’ was incredible.”

Theron went on to explain that veteran writer/director Miller being attached to the film was her main reason for signing on to this fourth installment in the “Mad Max” franchise. “I wanted to go and do this because I felt that George Miller — well, he’s a genius — and the idea of doing something that has this mass audience appeal with great actors — that is a dream come true. So I’m super excited about that.”

The Academy Award-winning actress likened the production to embarking on an adventure. “It’s obnoxious for actors to say this, but I feel like we’re going to go to set out on a journey and do something original.”

Also joining Theron and Hardy are castmembers Nicholas Hoult (“Clash of the Titans”), Teresa Palmer (“Bedtime Stories”) and Adelaide Clemens (“X-Men Origins: Wolverine”). Production is reportedly scheduled to begin in Australia sometime this August. Mel Gibson, who famously brought the original “Mad” Max Rockatansky to life more than 30 years ago, told MTV News earlier this year that he “can’t wait to see” the new film.

“Look, whatever George does, I think George is a genius, and whatever he is going to do with that franchise, he’s got good reason for doing it,” Gibson said. The action star, now in his 50s, said he was glad to have passed on the torch to Hardy: “I can’t take the punishment for that sort of thing.”

It’s time for Brad Pitt and Charlize Theron to get together.

No, not because they’re two of the most beautiful people in Hollywood, but…

Like Mr. Pitt, Theron would love to see the U.S. host the FIFA World Cup again, as it did back in 1994.

“It would be amazing,” Theron told me exclusively at Spike TV’s Guys Choice Awards. “I think it would be incredible for the sport.

“If the [U.S.] plays well—fingers crossed—it could really really change things and it could be great for the sport here,” she said of this year’s soon-to-begin soccer tournament. “I’m all for it.”

Pitt announced just five days ago that he has joined the board of directors for the committee putting together the U.S. bid to host the month-long Cup in 2018 or 2022. The decision will be announced on Dec. 2.

Theron will be at this year’s tournament, which kicks off June 11, in her native South Africa in support of her charity, Charlize Theron Africa Outreach Project. And after that, she’s off to Australia for a year to film Mad Max: Fury Road.
